Magnetic coiffure: Engineering of human hair surfaces with polyelectrolyte-stabilised magnetite nanoparticles

چکیده
Here we report a spontaneous electrostatic coating of human hair with aqueous Fe3O4 colloids capable to tailor magnetic properties hair, orienting and even moving them under the influence external field. Magnetite particles were modified by cationic anionic polyelectrolytes then successfully deposited in dense arrays, starting from cuticle gaps spreading further over major surface. These biocompatible biodegradable nanoparticles may serve as carriers for drug loading delivery topical pharmaceutical treatments. The deposition process was imaged real-time using dark-field microscopy. specimens studied number characterisation techniques. Under application an field, nanoparticle ordering obtained resulting alignment attraction along field applied. We believe technology reported here will find range applications care.

Engineering Cell Surfaces with Polyelectrolyte Materials for Translational Applications
Engineering cell surfaces with natural or synthetic materials is a unique and powerful strategy for biomedical applications. Cells exhibit more sophisticated migration, control, and functional capabilities compared to nanoparticles, scaffolds, viruses, and other engineered materials or agents commonly used in the biomedical field. Over the past decade, modification of cell surfaces with natural...
متن کاملMagnetite pollution nanoparticles in the human brain.
Biologically formed nanoparticles of the strongly magnetic mineral, magnetite, were first detected in the human brain over 20 y ago [Kirschvink JL, Kobayashi-Kirschvink A, Woodford BJ (1992) Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 89(16):7683-7687]. Magnetite can have potentially large impacts on the brain due to its unique combination of redox activity, surface charge, and strongly magnetic behavior. We used m...
متن کاملInvestigation of magnetite Fe3O4 nanoparticles for magnetic hyperthermia
The paper presents the investigation of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) dedicated to hyperthermia application. The crystal structure and size distributions have been determined by means of transmission electron microscope (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Magnetic properties of the nanoparticles were tested by Mössbauer spectroscopy together with calorimetric experiments. The Mössbauer spectrosc...
متن کاملFluorescent Magnetic Bioprobes by Surface Modification of Magnetite Nanoparticles
Bimodal nanoprobes comprising both magnetic and optical functionalities have been prepared via a sequential two-step process. Firstly, magnetite nanoparticles (MNPs) with well-defined cubic shape and an average dimension of 80 nm were produced by hydrolysis of iron sulfate and were then surface modified with silica shells by using the sol-gel method. The Fe₃O₄@SiO₂ particles were then functiona...
